Thank You Heroes

Today I stumbled upon a news article: 10,650 attendees of the tabligh gathering has been traced where 10,553 of them have already been checked by the Health ministry. 513 tested positive with 4,986 samples taken, 2,559 negative and the remaining pending results. Thus far, 1 passed away – May Allah bless his soul. I continue to be amazed by the heroes from the Health ministry, and for this particular effort I am sure there are many other government agencies involved as well. Tracking down close to 11,000 people isn’t an easy feat – for sure. Salute. Respect.Thank you.  Heart all of...

Day One

Today is a historical day for Malaysians. For the first time, in full scale, we are experiencing a moment where our movements are restricted, during a period people usually travel and spend time outside – the school holidays.  Narrated Anas: The Prophet (PBUH) said, “The real patience is at the first stroke of a calamity.”Bukhari While some of us are at work due to the nature of our jobs, most of us are assigned to work from home to minimize the number of people in the office (and on the street). Start of A Real Test

Today has been a mixed day, it feels long but passed by quick. Last night’s news was still sinking in, the announcement seems clear but obviously there were details that were unclear and unsettled. As a senior management member of a Takaful Operator, we were also figuring out how best to make it work, to fulfill our obligation to continue providing critical services to our customers – the duties of an essential service provider. I must admit it wasn’t an easy task as we had to balance the needs of the people, respecting the spirit of the “restricted movement order” as well...

Crucial Common Sense

With the continuous surge of affected individuals, the world is at the verge of a global emergency as it wages battle against the large scale pandemic that took it by storm. COVID-19 will be a name forever remembered by people living in this decade, for sure. As the numbers in Malaysia hiked up to 428 yesterday (it’s 553 today), many people, particularly in Klang Valley went into panic buying mode, in anticipation of heightened control measures put into place to contain the virus; the trending word of the day – “lockdown”. While understandable that people are worried and scared (I’m...

Takaful Everywhere

Today, I want to go back to writing on another important cause in my life: to propagate the importance of having takaful protection. This time around, I want to zoom in specifically to the channel options available for everyone to take one up. These days, the excuse of not having access doesn’t hold water anymore, as more and more options are made available to cater to the different type of audiences. If there is any big gap in this topic of accessibility, it would really be for the low income (B40) segment, which by design has its own set of challenges. ...
