Yes, it’s been forever. The CEO role does take a lot of time out of your life.
I have just been busy with work and family – that’s all to it. My responsibility to God – that goes without saying.
But technically over the past 1 year and a quarter, I’ve been sharing all the chapters of the Straight from the Heart book with my family members at the office.
But now I’m out of materials to share as finished the sharing. So the scribbles for the sharing series are more free flow and candid – maybe around flavor of the day.
I might as well just share it here rather than leaving it empty. The sharing:
So today I would like to touch on managing our mental health – a topic that we speak more openly these days compared to before. The younger generation is obviously more comfortable about it while the older ones – my generation and above – seem to grit through it a bit more, which is not necessarily good.
Stress, sadness, anxiety, overwhelmed, and many other negative feelings are something that all of us will naturally feel or face as long as we live. It can be related to anything – personal, work, or even the world. I knew people who had to deal with anxiety due to the war in Palestine – she wasn’t able to sleep or function well thinking of how she continues to live her daily life while the Palestinians were fighting for their lives every day.
We probably go through it every day, in different doses. Most times we don’t realize it as it is small doses and we could deal with it. However, if we don’t channel and manage it well, it will tend to bottle up and up to a certain level – blow out of the normal control.
Obviously as a normal human being, I had my share of these feelings and moments as well. Most of you know of my special child on the autism spectrum. The journey continues till this date, a roller coaster.
Do people think once they say, “We believe,” that they will be left without being put to the test?
Surah Al-Ankabut 29:2
Realizing this inevitable fact, the trick is to find the right channel to manage it. Building a support system, ensuring we channel it out healthily to a maybe a confidant, reading through books, hitting the praying mat to seek help, and if any way it becomes more serious – seeking professional help.
When I started my revert journey one of the books that I read was “La Tahzan” translated as “Don’t be Sad” by by Dr. ‘Aidh al-Qarni. The content covers various topics and circumstances, but what stayed with me wasn’t the content of the book but the title itself. It reminds me that despite any challenges I face in life, the Almighty is always with us, insha Allah.
“Do not worry; Allah is certainly with us.”
Surah At-Taubah 9:40
Stay strong, face it head on and come out stronger.
